PTSG buys firm to boost fire safety

Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG) has acquired IDSL Group Holdings, a specialist fire compliance group, to expand its building safety offering. The acquisition establishes PTSG as the UK’s largest passive fire operator, according to the company.

PTSG, headquartered in Castleford, says the deal significantly expands its capabilities across passive fire inspection, testing, certification, remediation, and lifecycle compliance. The combined business will offer services spanning technical surveys and evidence-based remediation through to certification, ongoing maintenance, and specialist manufacturing.

The acquisition of IDSL, which incorporates Integrated Doorsets, Fire Door Inspection Solutions, Hartland Fire, and Fire Doors Rite, provides PTSG with expertise across fire door inspection, remediation, and manufacturing. Paul Teasdale, executive chairman of PTSG, said the acquisition is an outstanding strategic fit for the company.

Teasdale noted that the passive fire sector is undergoing fundamental change, with increasing emphasis on evidence, accountability, and ongoing compliance throughout the life of a building. IDSL has built an exceptional reputation through its technical expertise, inspection capability, and deep understanding of passive fire compliance.

They are responding to legislation, including the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety (England) Regulations. Greater regulatory scrutiny around accountability and traceability is driving a shift towards ongoing inspection and maintenance rather than one-off replacement programs.

Ash Malhan, IDSL’s chief executive, said the business is recognized for its technical expertise, proprietary testing knowledge, and evidence-based approach to passive fire protection. This enables customers to make informed, compliant decisions while reducing unnecessary replacement and improving long-term asset performance.

Greg Ward, chief executive of PTSG, added that the acquisition forms part of the company’s strategy of investing in specialist businesses operating within regulation-led markets. PTSG’s existing services span access and safety, electrical services, building access, fire solutions, and water treatment.

Ward noted that passive fire protection is becoming increasingly inspection-led, data-led, and compliance-driven, creating significant long-term opportunities for businesses with the technical capability to support customers throughout the lifecycle of their buildings. IDSL brings exactly those strengths, enhancing PTSG’s existing Fire Solutions division.

The addition of specialist manufacturing capability further strengthens PTSG’s proposition by giving the company greater control over delivery and supporting faster, more resilient execution of critical remediation programs. By combining IDSL’s technical knowledge and manufacturing capabilities with its existing operations, PTSG expects to improve supply chain resilience and accelerate the delivery of complex fire safety projects.

PTSG is well-positioned to support building owners in handling complex regulations. The company’s expanded capabilities and expertise in passive fire compliance are expected to drive growth and provide customers with a complete compliance offering.

With the acquisition of IDSL, PTSG has strengthened its position in the UK’s passive fire compliance market, providing customers with a one-stop solution for their fire safety needs. The company’s commitment to investing in specialist businesses operating within regulation-led markets is expected to drive long-term growth and support its customers in achieving compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.

They have a strong position.
